Previously we posted a short blog post introducing our rebrand shortly before the site went live. It’s about time we delved into our rebrand properly, and with it, our team of supervillains who mastermind SMS Campaign.
You’ve seen the new site and all the updates and changes we have made. Including our specialism into helping event management. But we haven’t formally introduced the collection of quirky characters who inhabit our new site and feature in our graphics.
Over the next few weeks, we will be interspersing our regular content with blog posts introducing our supervillains. And in the process, explaining why we have decided to change our identity.
But if you’re impatient and want to know more about why we have chosen to don our capes, and who all these cartoon villains are, you can check our ‘Alter Egos’ page.
So without further ado, we’d like to introduce you to the first of our friendly supervillains.
Meet Doctor DeVos
Deep in the realms of his laboratory, an evil genius set to work. Like many before him, he had big dreams of world domination, and a desire to use cool gadgets to get him there.
Doctor Devos once was a humble IT specialist. Once.
However, this technological genius soon longed for higher things. He wanted his genius to be realised.
He trained tirelessly and created his own special serum to make himself as strong as humanly possible. DeVos believed he could match his physical strength to his smarts, and make himself unstoppable.
In his plight to become the ultimate example of human endeavour and success, he became an example of athleticism and of intelligence.
As for the tail in this tale? ‘DeVos’ means ‘fox’. And the fox itself has long been held up as an example of a nimble, wily creature. It seemed only fitting for the Doctor to take his namesake as part of his disguise and alias in his transition into becoming a supervillain.
Doctor Devos’s Dreams
Now Doctor DeVos is on his way to achieving his dreams of world domination, alongside his evil league. Constantly crafting new technology, and forging ahead into the future, Doctor DeVos can outsmart – and outrun – anything or anyone that he comes up against.
All villains crave attention, and Doctor DeVos is no different. He also longs for world domination. Doctor DeVos, alongside his partner in crime, Mistry Man, believed they had discovered the reason behind every other villain before them failing to fulfil their masterplans.
Most villains want to rule the world and assume complete power and control. Therein lies their failings. Doctor Devos, Mistry Man, and their Evil League want to become immortal and all-powerful simply by being in people’s minds. For as long as people think of you, you have some power over them.
The Man Behind the Mask
Behind the mask lies Thomas DeVos, an IT solutions specialist. He co-founded the company a year ago with Raj Mistry, and so SMS Campaign was born.
Unlike his villainous counterpart, he uses his technological genius for good. For years, he has been in the world business development and IT solutions, helping companies achieve their potential.
Like the evil genius Doctor Devos, Thomas too is an athlete. In fact, he’s completed the notorious Iron Man challenge. Several times. He’s also no stranger to the tough mudder, having run that just a few weeks ago.
Rather than world domination, a great family life is the centre of Thomas’s desires. And with his wife, four kids, two dogs, and a cat, it’s a busy one as well. But the most rewarding achievement a person could have. (Even if there are no medals for it!)
Here ends the ‘origins’ story of Doctor DeVos. (And Thomas, too.) But it definitely isn’t the end of the tale. Thomas remains an active part of SMS Campaign as head of business development. Whereas there is no telling what evil deeds Doctor DeVos is planning to carry out, only that he will.
To find out more about the team behind SMS Campaign, keep an eye out for future blog posts introducing our supervillains, and their everyday alter egos. In the meantime, you can find out about the company story, and those of the villains, on our website.
